What To Wear

  • For your first riding lessons we offer hats and boots available to use free of charge.  If you wear your own hat and boots,  hats need to be to the latest standard and boots smooth sole with a quarter inch heel. If you are unsure please ask a member of staff on arrival

  • If and when you want to buy your own hat, boots and clothing we offer a discount voucher for the local, professional tack shop.

  • We advise wearing loose fitting trousers like leggings or joggers until you buy riding tights or jodhpurs.  Try to avoid wearing jeans as the hems can rub your legs. Shorts are not permitted.

  • Please bring a coat as it is not guaranteed to be in our indoor school. All tops and jackets must be securely fastened. If you need to take off a jacket while riding you will need to tell your instructor as you must dismount from the horse first. Vest tops are not allowed.

  • Ideally all riders need to wear gloves, but it is not essential.

What Happens When You First Arrive

  • Please be advised to arrive 15 minutes before your lesson is due to start, you can then find a suitable hat and boots and also familiarise yourself with staff, facilities and the horse you will be riding.

  • Young and small children need a leader until they are confident enough to control the pony safely, parents/guardians will be shown how to lead the pony correctly and will only be asked to do a gentle jog for short periods of time. Please allocate one leader for every small child you may be bringing.

Terms and Conditions

  • Please note our weight limit is 14 stone fully dressed for riding

  • Loaning of riding hats and boots is included in the price.

  • When using your own hats they must be to standard (see BETA, British Equestrian Trade Association for the latest guidelines on hats and boots).

  • There is a strict 48-hour cancellation fee for any bookings of 100%.

  • Payment must be made in full at the time of booking

If you have any issues with your registration or booking please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone and we will be pleased to assist you with the process.

We try very hard to accommodate everyone at Moor Farm Stables, although we do reserve the right to make changes to lessons/coaches/horses/ponies if necessary, including cancellations at short notice if necessary.

 Cancellation Policy

  • There is a strict 48-hour cancellation fee for any bookings of 100%.

  • Once booked, if you are unable to make a lesson and wish to reschedule, bookings may be transferred to an alternative date provided that 48 hours’ notice is given via the online system. If appropriate notice is not given, the cancellation will occur without transfer. Any cancelled lesson that is eligible for a transfer will have the associated value credited to your user account. This credit is then available to rebook lessons.

  • Lessons can only be transferred once and have to be rebooked within a maximum period of three months if not to be forfeited. They can only be transferred to another session of identical type, at the same or lower level if a group–group jump will always be at a lower level. Cancelled sessions cannot be accrued, refunded or given to another person.

  • If any rider ceases to ride at Moor Farm Stables, any lessons purchased but not booked in will be held for a period of 6 months after which time they will be deemed invalid. Lessons may be transferred to another rider within this time if the lesson holder or parent/guardian gives notice in writing.

  • No refunds will be given on lessons except in the form of vouchers or credit to your account.
